WARNING: Mercury Retrograde Could Send You into an Emotional Eating Frenzy!

Have you felt it, the overwhelm, the added stress and extra sensations to go run and cry in the closet? We can thank this Mercury Retrograde in Pisces for touchy feeling everything, and heightened sensitivities for at least the next three weeks. 

I have been an emotional, tear filled sensitive on cue since Mercury went into Retrograde on March 5th, I'm usually ready for the technology fail and frustrations, but THIS, is an entirely new level of feels. 

You can expect to feel highly overwhelmed over the slightest issues and deeply emotional.

I don't know about you but this sensitive empath goes running for the fridge, and late night binge eating ensues. So rather than gain an added ten pounds this retrograde, I thought I'd share how we can manage all these extra emotions and cope with the extra stress, and feelings of overwhelm with ease, rather than eating Ben and Jerry's. 

As a feeler, I'm all for extra emotions and all the feels, and the great thing about this retrograde, is it allows us to communicate our deepest emotions, even if we have to fumble through them.

Now is the perfect time to break out that journal you have been meaning to use. Write down how you feel, don't worry about how it sounds, just let it flow.

I usually set my journal writing time up to be one of my most intimate acts, it’s a time I get in touch with my deepest desires and set intentions to get clarity about some of the most important decisions I have to make.  I light some candles, get out my labradorite gemstone for a deeper spiritual experience, fill my diffuser with a grounding essential oil like Arborvitae and Wild Orange and center in on what wants to be communicated. 

Now more than ever is the perfect time to center in and find out what part of you wants to be heard.

As a society we are overwhelmed with so much information coming at us, demanding our attention. Journaling is a great practice to slow down and quiet your mind.

Journaling is the perfect time to ask deeper questions and be ready to acknowledge what you find. 

It may take a little getting used to, slowing down and being intentional about writing, but I promise it is one of the best things you can do for yourself, who better to listen to you, than yourself and getting incredibly clear about what you want.

Be fair warned though, your communication with others may feel a bit out of sorts this retrograde, don't get me started on the late night yelling session I had with my husband, I'm a Leo and he wasn't hearing me, so she was a roaring.

You don't have to roar, you can prepare ahead of time and do your best to protect yourself. Now more than ever, whether you consider yourself intuitive or an empath, you are going to be sensitive to the energy of others.

Now is the time to make sure you protect your own energies, and keep clear boundaries in place.

When we are functioning at a high state of overwhelm we tend to over-react, so now more than ever is the time to practice self care. Self care takes many forms, maybe for you it is a night out with girlfriends on the town, or maybe it is a quiet walk in nature.

This is the time to do what fills your cup and refreshes your spirit. Take the yoga class you have been meaning to get to, drink all the water, take the Epson salt bath.

Now is the time to treat yourself with gentleness and nourishment for the soul.

Retrograde will pass, the demands on your time likely won’t, but when you make your self a priority and set an intention to show up for your highest good, the overwhelm can be a thing of the past.

In the meantime be sure to practice these 5 self care essentials, at least for the next three weeks.

  • Practice 10 minutes of meditation daily
  • Write down 5 things you are grateful for every night before bed
  • Journal your thoughts and set clear intentions
  • Maintain clear boundaries with others and learn to say no. You are allowed to show up for your highest intentions and you can’t do that when stretched too thin showing up for others.
  • Get at least 8 hours of sleep a night. This is a biggie, research shows that your brain rewires itself when you sleep and helps you get even more done in less time.
