7 Time Saving - Weight Loss Hacks for Busy Moms

I get it you are busy, actually to say you are busy may even be an understatement. You have a busy career, kids to taxi around, church or community events to serve in, dinner to be made and laundry to be done. So how on earth do you fit weight loss into your already full schedule?

I used to feel this way too, when I weighed over 210 pounds I was exhausted, and barely getting by with the energy I had, to even think about adding another item to my to-do list was a bit much.

I want to help teach you what I learned along my journey of releasing 70 pounds, so weight loss doesn't feel like a chore, but instead you get really excited about starting because I teach you what actually works. 

Here are my top seven hacks to help you start losing weight now. I promise you that if you use the simple yet powerful tools I give you, you can't help but have success. 

 

Put your health first. This was so hard for me!! I was so used to giving to everyone else and really felt guilty if I took time for me, let alone money and not being 100% available 24/7. Let me assure you this is so common, mom-guilt is a real thing. Here's the thing though friend, by putting your health first you can add more time to your day, more energy to sustain you throughout the entire day, even if like me you don't get home until after 10:00 at night, most nights. You may add years to your life, or prevent chronic disease, and bonus you get to teach your children to value their own health. 

View food as a fuel source rather than a way to numb out. This one right here is a biggie, this one took me a lot of work, yet was the most powerful lesson I learned to change my relationship with food. When you can shift the way you think about food, you no longer think about it day and night, you don't worry about if it is part of your "diet plan," you simply eat to fuel your body. Like putting gasoline in a car, food is your fuel to keep you going. Cook once, eat three or four times. I have a confession, I don't cook. Well, I cook but only twice a week at best, as a family we are constantly on the go. Here's my secret. I batch cook what I need and then build my meals off of the proteins I have made. This simplifies my life so much!! I then take my meals with me and have healthy options no matter where I go, or what I am doing because it is available with no fuss. 

Bring your meals with you. How often does your day go as planned? I'm guessing rarely, something almost always comes up. So I've made it a practice of mine to have food available no matter where I go. I always have a back-up of some kind of healthy option. I carry with me individual peanut butter packs, trail mix with nuts and seeds, individually wrapped cheese, an apple, or banana. These snacks are on top of my meals that I have brought with, usually a protein, healthy fat and lots of leafy, fiber rich greens. 

Check in with your hunger, are you really hungry or is it your emotions? This one is a biggie, often we react from a place of emotion rather than being mindful of what we truly want. The next time you have a craving, or reach for that convenient bite, or sugary treat check in with yourself and notice how you feel and what might be driving your action.

Get support, you don't have to do this alone. I did not achieve my goal alone, I hired a coach, I showed up on phone calls, I checked in on my groups, I participated and shared what was helping me. It seems like there is this theme I keep hearing in my daily life and I suspect it is because I am surrounded by giving, caring, servant hearted women, and that theme is we often think we have to do things on our own. My church teaches self reliance, and part of being self reliant is understanding when we need support to grow. Growing can be uncomfortable, growing means doing something new you haven't done before. Surround yourself with someone who has gone where you want to go, who has achieved the goals you want to accomplish. Just like this list sorts through the overwhelm and gives you a few key points that you can focus on that will make the biggest impact, working with me will help you do just that...

Focus on the essentials. This list is the essentials, there are a few more but I wanted to give you the most impact for your effort. Do you really have time to do the research yourself, likely not. There are tons of free resources out there, this being one of them. I went to years worth of schooling, spent thousands of dollars to learn what I know and get to where I am now, I can help you sort through the overwhelm and simply focus on the essentials. That's what having a coach does for you. I give my clients 1 to 3 action steps to focus on for the week. Could you focus on one actions per week, that will give you the biggest results for your efforts? I certainly hope so and if you can't maybe it is time to re-evaluate how you spend your time, which I also teach a course on time management and getting more time in your day.
